Last March 25th, the Bases Conversion Development Authority (BCDA) granted Thunderbird Resorts’ petition soliciting a 25-year lease extension and its proposed commercial terms on the 65 hectare tourism complex the recreational developer presently occupies in the Poro Point Freeport Zone in San Fernando, La Union.
With a mandate to convert former US military base lands and camps into productive civilian economic growth centers, the BCDA has proven to be one of the most successful government agencies in attracting investments, creating jobs for the Filipino people and boosting the country's economy.
Fiesta Casino, one of Thunderbird Resorts’ brands, started operating in 2005, while the well renowned and striking Santorini-inspired hotel opened its doors to the public in 2008. With the Resort fast becoming a preferred destination getaway, its popularity continues to intensify with high occupancy rates that translate to almost always fully booked weekends.
Thunderbird Resorts Poro Point now enjoys a total of 47-year lease from the Government. With a current casino expansion in progress, a planned hotel expansion and an upcoming real estate development, The Point Residences, set for launching before the year ends, Thunderbird Resorts is here to stay.
